CSAT PAPER 2 Classes from Dec 22, 2023 -  csat coaching classes

APTITUDE IS A VARIETY OF ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMME

 What is aptitude?

One should remember that ‘’Aptitude is nothing but playing with alphabet and numerical ". Every aptitude question has got some hidden pattern in it

If you crack the hidden pattern then it becomes easy to crack the aptitude questions, Cracking the hidden pattern Needs good reasoning ability command over the reasoning ability brings with it the required speed and accuracy

        1.       Maths section

Example1- For example if you need to find the value of square of 85 you should not take your pen and pencil.  You should immediately tell it is 7225. (i.e.) Identify and be conversantt with the pattern in it.  In this case observe clearly that 5x5 = 25: 8x9 = 72. So square of 85 = 7225.

  Example 2 - To solve> BC X BC = ADB.

We gave this problem to our students.  They all tried every possibility and even after 7 minutes except a few (even this found out answers using lengthy procedures), others could not solve it.  Observe the inherent pattern in it.

In the tenth place we have "B" |BC X BC] Again in the answer side we have "B" in the unit place.  It can happen only when B=1 and C = 9. For finding "B" OBSERVE IF B is 2 then 29x 29 does not fit into the answer as given.  If B is 3 then 39x39 crosses three digits.  NoteFor this don't multiply 29x 29 and 39x39: just do some mental calculations you will understand.  If you multiply then you will lose about 2 minutes.] So "B" must be 1 and nothing more or nothing less.  Once you crack this pattern, then it is easy.  The answer is 19 x 19 = 361.Rememeber you need to crack this pattern within a matter of less than 35 seconds].

One more important suggestion is please don't go by formula method.  Memorizing the formula will hinder your thought process.  If you know formula what happen most often is you try to fit the problem in to the formula.

You fail to apply mind and thinking process.  It eats your time.  If you are really serious about clearing CSAT Paper go by logic, shortcut.  strategy and tactics and not by formula.  In the examination hall after deducting time for shading and understanding the question, you will be hardly left with 35 seconds for a question.  Within that 35 seconds you need to solve the problem, that too correctly.  This requires that You need to:

"Be well versed with the identification of patterns".

* Sharpen your skills.

 * Learn tactics, shortcuts and ensure timing sense.

* Have an ample amount of Practice and exposure to variety of questions that can be asked.

One should always keep in mind that it is not always possible (even not essential) to solve a problem. You can and you must do some logical guessing and elimination and back calculations to arrive at an answer. All these actions require a sound base in the concepts. The one stop solution to perform well in aptitude tests is "Be cunning with numbers and alphabets". Rest will follow.

Only in certain unavoidable cases like Problems on Mensuration involving areas, volumes you can use formula.

       English section

Even in case of English section similar patterns and relations exist. One need to understand and be good at cracking the English section with a good command over the basic rules of grammar and a mastery over vocabulary

For Example

"Passage 1: A major legislative challenge to Indian patriarchy involved the abolition of traditional religious laws prohibiting women from choosing their marriage partners, divorcing brutal or neglectful husbands, or inheriting property. This was an arduous process. A Bill drafted to enact these changes for the majority community (Hindus) failed to pass through the Constitutional Assembly or the Provisional Parliament that succeeded it Sundry saints and sadhus organized dozens of demonstrations outside Parliament condemning the Bill as an affront to Hindu society. Effigies of Jawaharlal Nehru and Dr.BR. Ambedkar were regularly burnt.

Several years later, the reforms were finally passed by the first Parliament based on adult franchise. This was an important first step to the Common Civil Code promised in the Constitution. However, given the sensitive aftermath of Partition, it was deemed prudent not to extend the core of this legislation to the Muslim minority.  But both Nehru and Ambedkar had no doubt that this too would have to happen.  The moment came in 1986, when the Supreme Court, in the Shah Bano case, asked the husband who had abandoned Shah Bano to continue paying her an allowance, commenting further that it was past time that the Constitutional promise of a common, gender - sensitive.   civil code be finally redeemed.

The Congress of Jawaharlal Nehru was bold enough to resist the challenge of reactionary saints.  Tragically, the Congress of Rajiv Gandhi failed, 30 years later, to resist the challenge of reactionary mullahs.  Despite, many Muslim intellectuals and activists being in favour of the Supreme Court judgment.  The 400 - odd ruling party MPs, who could and should have been used to pass a common civil code, were instead instructed to support a bill overturning the court verdict.  This foolish and callous act set back the cause of women's emancipation by decades, even as it helped stoke years of intense communal polarisation and sectarian violence between Hindus and Muslims.

In a speech to the Constituent Assembly, Ambedkar famously described democracy as top - dressing on Indian soil.  Custom, tradition, social practice and religious laws were all heavily loaded against the idea that all citizens should have equal rights, When Ambedkar said this he had the practice of caste discrimination largely in mind.  But his remarks apply equally to discrimination against women.

                  1.  According to this passage, how was Rajiv Gandhi different from Nehru

a.  Rajiv Gandhi had the support of only 400 - odd MPs while Nehru had more

b. Failure of Rajiv Gandhi to pass a common civil code despite commanding a majority of 400         - off MPs

c Rajiv Gandhi helped stoke communal tensions

d Failure of Rajiv Gandhi in combating reactionary sentiments of religious elements of the society

2.What does 'top - dressing' refer to?

a. The ideal of equal rights to all the citizens of India irrespective of their background

b. The mismatch between centuries - old customs, values and practices, and the value system propounded by Indian democracy

c. Absence of readiness on part of Indians to accept and practice democracy None of the above

3.why was the legislative process considered ‘arduous’ ?

a. The newly - formed provisional parliament lacked the will to initiate such a process

b. Opposition to erosion of Hindu values from elements of the Hindu religious order

c. The religiously - charged atmosphere in the aftermath of the Partition

d. All of the above

4.What does the Shah Bano 'moment signify?

 a. Interference of Supreme Court in Muslim Personal Law

  b. A Milestone for woman ‘s right to maintenance

   c. failure to challenge the reactionary mullahs

   d. the right time to bring muslims under the ambit of a common civil code

 5. what is crux of the passage ?

      a. Absence of a common civil code in india

      b. Deep entrenchment of religious tradition and values in india

c . Struggle between parliamentary process and religious norms

       d. Failure of different Congress governments in passing a common civil code in the Parliament

Before one week of Prelims- Exam don ' t try to study anything new.  Be relaxed but focused on revision.  Don't do night study before the day of exam.

While answering the questions be careful not to answer a question which is very much blind to you as it may cost your final score. However you can take some calculated risks in case of logical     guess and answers which you know with more than 60% confidence level.

PRACTICE MAKES A MAN PERFECT.  One can always take the guidance of reputed coaching institutes like www.crackingIAS.com to come out with flying colours

 GOOD LUCK!

Our expert team analysis reveals the following

 Myth.no.1.  CSAT - like CAT / BANK P.O Exam?

FACTS: Treating CSAT like BANK PO or MBA Entrance Exams is a Great Blunder CSAT is going to be like CSAT.

 1. The aim of BANK PO Exam is to select you for a Job whose profile demands skills required for Banking Sector.

2. The aim of CAT Exam is to select you for a course of study to prepare you for a business administration - more specifically for Private sector (Hope many will agree this as almost every creamy layer of MBA students aspire for a career in a MNC with FATTY PAY PACKAGE.).  As an able BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR you will be a working for the profit of the company which determines your career growth

3. 3. The aim of CSAT Exam is to select you for a job in Public Services wherein you will be working with the socio - politico - economic system of the country.  You are going to be a part and parcel of the Socio - political Development process and India's political affairs system.  Hence the aim of CSAT is to assess you for the suitability to work as a Civil Servant & and not as a BANK PO or an able Business Administrator.  Hence CSAT is going to be like CSAT.  It is unique in its own way.

Myth.no.2.  CSAT is very tough.  Focus heavily on CSAT.

1. Students are confused and some are running behind BANK PO BOOKS and many behind Books for CAT & MBA Entrance Exams.  They are missing out on the real essence of the core nature of the CSAT exam. CSAT - PAPER 2 is just a qualifying paper.

2. The best and correct approach would be "Prepare for Mains and Prelims -together

upto April 30th" and focus exclusively for Prelims after March 15.

3. If you are really serious about clearing Civil Services Exam in your first attempt then you must follow the approach given in point number 2. After Prelims Exam the time limit is very short wherein you cannot prepare the optional subjects thoroughly and do revision.

  4. Myth.no.3.  CSAT syllabus is focusing fully on English & Maths.

FACTS: - CSAT consists of two papers - Paper 1 (General Studies) & Paper 2 (Aptitude).  1.Apart from Paper 2 which is not completely new (YES. Mental ability was there in the GS old syllabus) major changes have been incorporated in GS Syllabus.  Three new areas have been given much emphasis - Social Sector Development.  Rights and Governance issues, Environmental issues.

2.Questions in english section will be most likely based on various Government reports, articles on current issues and schemes.

  3. The reasoning and quantitative part of the CSAT Paper 2 will be most likely of very fundamental (10th level) but more application oriented.  You need to sharpen your skills with shortcuts and tactics and get yourself exposed to variety of questions  and get good practice in tackling various questions.  All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them.
